This is pretty much the opposite of what I want at the time I build a Ring World.
I don't build these things as breeder worlds, I build them to handle the overflow from my overpopulated galaxy.
And it's part of the Designation, so Ascending the ring segment makes the pop growth even worse.
What I want at that stage of the game is reduced sprawl and reduced upkeep.
Those are things I'd be really happy to Ascend to enhance.
Posting in a regular thread because maybe I'm doing it wrong -- how do you use Ring World in 3.6, and do you like the +% pop growth on them?

I always like +% pop growth. More pops is more stuff! What's not to like about stuff?
Are you playing with altered pop growth settings? I started playing after 3.0 and I don't think I've ever found myself seriously struggling from overpopulation.

I think it'd be better for Ring Worlds to get +20% or so pop growth, but it shouldn't scale with ascension.
Make it not part of the designation, but instead part of the planet type.

I think the only reason they put it in the designation is that different designations have different growth rates.

I use 2.8 pop growth settings, and I avoid shuffling pops around unless I really have to (like in the case where I receive refugees on a suboptimal climate world). So having an innate bonus to pop growth suits me just fine. But I agree it could be decoupled from the designations to accommodate other playstyles.

Omg excellent, ringworlds need that to compete with ecus. And I like that it scales with ascension as that makes playing tall with ringworld origin far more viable.

Rings are not competitive with Ecus because of their different timing.
Restoring a Relic World takes a T3 tech and 20k minerals (and some energy to clear the blockers). It's possible to have a fully working Ecu in time for the first GC resolution, which is often establishing the Galactic Market, which is why I remember this -- because I've had one in time.
Having a fully functional Ecu in your first 30 years is possible, and that's
notthe case for a Ring World segment.

+% Pop Growth on these high-impact worlds is completely ridiculous. Players do not need more incentives to replace every inch of their empire with Ecumenopoli and Ring Worlds.
If you want them to grow faster, Immigration is the answer, guys. Give the uber-worlds big Immigration Pull and leave the Pop Growth bonuses to the Gaia Worlds. Let everything have its own niche.

sure, but ringworld origin becomes far more viable with a popgrowth bonus and i like it

Yeah I had no difficulty filling a Ring World in previous versions -- Breeder Worlds & auto-migration are not difficult, and conquest & raiding are also easy to implement.

You don't get the designation on a Shattered Ring segment, only on a fully restored Ring World segment.
And it's a Designation, you wouldn't get it on your capital anyway.

yeah, i'm fine with it coming in only after restoring those colonies, it's a shame it does not help the capital tho

Do gaia worlds even have a pop growth bonus? If they don’t then there’s no filled niche for the pop growth world. I think they have a immigration bonus though so ironically you’ve got it backwards

They don't, but they should. Both because it makes more logical sense (Cities grow primarily through Immigration, while Rural areas grown primarily through internal growth) but more importantly because Gaia worlds really need a niche. They're very bad at the moment for a wide variety of reasons, and moving the Pop Growth bonuses from Ecus to them would solve a lot of problems.

i am fine with all perfect worlds having pop growth bonuses, as that was a complaint people had when pop growth was reworked: gaia, ecu, and ring.
I literally abandoned ringworld start after the popgrowth rework and ring nerf. the recent changes, to the other ring segments, and to popgrowth, make me want to go back again.

At the time you get ring worlds under current version circ*mstances you either have enough surplus pops to fill them, in which case growth takes long enough for that bonus to not overly increase that muber.
Or you don't and you're happy the pop growth at least gives a little extra to make ring worlds actually productive.
Or you play galactic kidnappers/pop breeders to the degree the limitation don't mean to much, in which case having to deal with it is low key intended.
