Eyes in the Dark - Disney Dreamlight Valley Guide - IGN (2024)

Eyes in the Dark is the first quest for Nala in Disney Dreamlight Valley, which has you unlocking The Lion King Realm, helping Nala rejoin Simba, cooking Bug Platter, frightening the Hyenas, and placing Pride Rock in the Valley to unlock Nala. This quest was added as part of Disney Dreamlight Valley's Pride of the Valley Update. This Eyes in the Dark walkthrough includes all steps you'll need to help Mirabel and gain her friendship.

Eyes in the Dark Walkthrough

Head to the Dream Castle. You will need 10,000 Dreamlight to unlock The Lion King Realm.

After unlocking The Lion King Realm, head through the door. You will find Nala.

After a roaring encounter, you learn Nala and Simba are separated. You propose to help Nala throw off the trail of the nearby hyenas.

Roaring Reunion

You will be tasked to use your Royal Shovel and Royal Watering Can to create a thorny defense against the hyenas.

After speaking with Nala, use your Royal Shovel to dig up the cracked spots on the ground.

There are five in total.

After digging any of these cracked spots in the ground, you will dig up Sand, but more importantly Thorn Bush Seeds.

After you have all five Thorn Bush Seeds, you will need to plant the Thorn Bush Seeds near the ledge in the dried-out oasis.

After planting all five Thorn Bush Seeds, use your Royal Watering Can to water them all.

You will be treated to a cutscene of the thorny defense you helped create and Nala making a huge leap over it.

After Nala's leap, speak with her. Nala will thank you for your help and you will be wowed by her facing daring escape from the hyenas.

Unfortunately, there are huge stumps blocking the path into the jungle.

Use your Royal Shovel to dig out the stumps.

After digging out both of the stumps, head through the cave into the jungle.

You will arrive in a large jungle area with a Cooking Station nearby to the west and a waterfall to the north. Speak with Nala.

Now that you are both safe, Nala suggests you look for Simba on the other side of the river. You are worried Simba might think you are a foe on introduction, Nala reassures you to tell Simba, "Hakuna Matata".

You will need to lower the log near the waterfall to open the path to Simba.

Head near the bottom of the waterfall.

Use your Royal Pickaxe on the large boulder. After using your Royal Pickaxe, the log will fall correctly into place, giving you a path to reach Simba.

Cross the river by traversing over the newly fallen log.

After crossing the river, head deeper into the jungle.

Making it out into a new clearing, you will find Simba to the north.

Speak with Simba.

Remember to say "Hakuna Matata".

After speaking with Simba, he will suggest for you both go and see Nala.

Follow Simba to Nala's location and watch their reunion.

Nala will explain that she is incredibly hungry and Simba wants your help to put food together.

After their reunion, speak with Simba.

Famished Friends

After speaking with Simba, you will need to obtain:

• 6 Colorful Bugs, which can be found by digging into the sparkling ground in the dried-out oasis back where you first met Nala
• 3 Slimy Bugs, which can be fished in the river nearby from the ripples

After obtaining the 6 Colorful Bugs and the 3 Slimy Bugs, head back to Simba.

Simba thinks that the meal still needs some crunch.

You will need to obtain:

• 6 Red Bugs, which you can catch from where you initially met Simba

After obtaining the Red Bugs, head to a Cooking Station to cook the Bug Platter, which consists of:

• x2 Colorful Bugs
• x2 Red Bugs
• x1 Slimy Bug

After cooking 3 Bug Platters, deliver them to Nala.

The taste is very different from what Nala is used to, but then Nala hears and checks that there are hundreds of hyenas nearby.

Hyena Hassle

You suggest tricking the hyenas to make them think there are hundreds of lions in the area.

You will need to head back to the Valley and try to obtain something from Scrooge McDuck.

After speaking with Scrooge McDuck, he says that he has an old Sound System in the basem*nt.

You will need to repair the Sound System Scrooge McDuck gives you.

You will need to obtain:

• 10 Softwood, which can be purchased from Kristoff's Stall
• 5 Hardwood, which can be purchased from Kristoff's Stall
• 2 Iron Ingot, which can be purchased from Kristoff's Stall
• 1 Broken Sound System, which Scrooge McDuck should have given you

After gathering all of the materials, head to a Crafting Station.

After repairing the Sound System, head back to The Lion King Realm. Speak with Nala and set up the Sound System.

With all three of you roaring into the Sound System, it scares away all of the hyenas.

Rock of Pride

After speaking with Nala, you will need to head back to Dreamlight Valley to place Pride Rock, so Nala has a home to stay in the Valley.

After placing Pride Rock, you will need to pay Scrooge McDuck 15,000 Star Coins for the installation fee.

After paying Scrooge McDuck, Nala will return.

After speaking to Nala and warning her of Scar already being in the Valley, you will have completed this quest and Nala will now roam the village.
